Ribby: The Game ( The Devlog) - 11/27/2023

RIBBY: THE GAME (THE DEMO (VERSION 2 (THE DEVLOG)))

Hello everyone!

I have never used this devlog feature before and I have plenty a thing to talk about regarding Ribby and her demo and her game. This is mostly intended for me to post on Twitter but I know that there are some followers on the itch page as well that I figured it'd be best to write about here.

WHERE THE HELL IS RIBBY THE GAME YOU MOTHER FER

It's a bit strange to me that it's been over a YEAR since Ribby: The Game (The Demo) first released. A lot has changed since then not only for the game, but in my personal life as well. Since the demo's initial release in October of last year, I've graduated university, moved across the country to live with my boyfriend,  been through a couple of jobs, and have worked on numerous projects. Much to my disliking, Ribby took a bit of a backseat for 2023.

That being said, however - I've been working as hard as I can on the next demo (Version 2.0) in my free time. I wasn't super happy with how the first demo ended up and there is a lot more I want to do and expand upon with Ribby and her world. While I don't have an exact release date for Demo v2, I'm aiming for as early as I can, but probably after the turn of the New Year. 

OK SO WHAT ARE YOU DOING AND CHANGING

Ribby Demo 2 is a complete and utter overhaul of everything from Demo 1. Some of the changes are:

- Expanded and more in-depth maps and environments -

- An unbelievably AMAZING original soundtrack by Megan (@valfrey_) , please find them HERE!

- You can listen to a few of the songs HERE!

- More character animations, expressions, dialogue, and interactions -

- Rewrites of the story beats/characters so far to be fleshed out and expanded upon -

- UI/Interface Rehaul -

- Full Piece CGs featuring some guest artists -

- A meatier runtime, essentially the entire "first chapter" of the game, so to speak -

- A preview of the game's battle system, with a first fight against the fiery Hothead -

- The potential for your name in the credits! (If you find a secret hidden within Demo 1) -

- So much fun to be had -

- And of course, lest we forget the inclusion of @̴̘͗̀̔̊͌̽̑͠D̶͈͍͇̹̖͆͑̅̉̑̈́͊̑͗͂̈́͘͠͝͠3̵̧̥͕̩̟͖̣̮̌̀͂͂̌̐̋͑͋̃1̷͈̖͕͖͉̪̦͖̺͕̝̤̣͚̹͉̎̍̎̃@̸̨̦̪̯̘̣̜͚̲̝̥̇̾̋̓̆͑̀̊̄̐̿̕͝͝1̵̧̛̘̥̒̎ͅḐ̶͉̪̞̗̹͓̳͔̳̖̣͍͖̭̑͠3̶̨̨̻̜̙̼̭͍̦͚͔̭̩̬̬̻͊̈̈́́͘͜ -

I ORDERED A RIBBY-STYLED COMMISSION AND I DIDN'T GET IT

A while ago I opened Ribby-styled commissions to help pay some bills during my move earlier this year. What I neglected to do was pace myself and take them a little at a time. I took on way too many at once and had a terrible time keeping track due to the move, finishing school, switching jobs, and more.
